Logivity data model guideline
Logivity data model
Concept
There are four main assets (Cargo, Capacity, Transport order/TO and Transport unit/TU) and one message asset (Transport status). A Shipment is a primary business object in the Logivity network and is composed of the four main assets and taken through its lifecycle by the Transport status messages.
Asset | Definition |
---|---|
Cargo | Refers to goods being transported in the context of a specific business transaction. It is the summary level and primary asset of the Shipment. |
Capacity | Refers to a contracted right to use space in a transport asset (e.g. truck/trailer, vessel, container) or offered or requested possibility for such space. |
Transport order | Corresponds to the need of a stakeholder of getting goods moved. |
Transport unit | Refers to the lowest shippable unit, including the goods and the handling unit (e.g. a pallet, a container) that it is being transported on/in. |
Transport status | Is used to communicate important steps of the process and/or updates to the main assets. Can either be a standard message (on which business logic can be built) or a non-standard message. |
Shipment Types
- Planned (“normal” transport booking, where the details of the goods being transported are fairly well known).
For a Planned Shipment all four main assets are included at the Shipment creation. There is always one Capacity and one Cargo in a Shipment. Connected to the Cargo there are one or more Transport orders and connected to each Transport order there are one or more Transport units.
- Pre-booking (reservation of a needed capacity, without knowledge of the goods that will be shipped – also called Capacity booking).
For a Pre-booking Shipment only the Capacity and Cargo are included at the Shipment creation. There is always one Capacity and one Cargo in a Shipment. At the Load confirmation stage of the process, the TO(s) and TU(s) are being added. Connected to the Cargo there are one or more Transport orders and connected to each Transport order there are one or more Transport units.
